Confidence & Engagement Improvement for Kitty

Kitty (alias) was at the end of Year 9 and had a few weeks between schools – she lacked confidence and engagement in her abilities and education.

We used her interest in interior design to construct a show house and looked at advertising and the financial aspects of business. We played mathematical games, followed her interest in camping by looking at the science and geography involved, and engaged Kitty’s liking for Eminem by analysing his lyrics and writing a letter to his fan club.

We used Kitty’s impressive fine motor skills to build a model vehicle powered by salt water (electrolyte cell) which took cognitive ability as well as concentration and determination – the video clip is attached.
